Established in 1973, McLaren’s Nurseries is a Scottish-based wholesale and retail supplier and grower of plants.
We operate from a 50-acre site on the outskirts of Glasgow near Uplawmoor.
Passionate About Plants
Fifty years ago, Robert McLaren was a time-served electrician with a good job and a secure future. Robert and his wife Ruth gave it up to indulge a passion for growing plants and rented a small holding at Inchinnan, Renfrewshire to start a nursery.
After operating the Nursery for two seasons Robert then purchased a 2.5 acre nursery in Ardrossan – “Stanley Nursery”. After Stanley Nursery being open for many years, it was then relocated to our present site in Lugton and trades as “McLarens Nurseries Ltd” one of the biggest intensive nurseries in Scotland.
Growing With You
The site outside Lugton where we are now situated was bought in 1980 and was just a bare un-drained field. We now extend to 50 acres, operating on 25 and counting and 15 of which, are under glass or poly-tunnel. We are very much a family business and like to get our hands dirty, we erect our own tunnels and we continuously develop and expand to suit growth and demand.
McLaren’s Nurseries Ltd supply garden centres, garden sections of DIY stores, landscape gardeners, charities, golf courses, the general public, and architects.
Everything You Need
Our stock ranges from Herbaceous and Evergreen plants, Deciduous shrubs, Ornamental Grasses, Trees, Specimen Plants, Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Fruit trees.
With the demand for exotic and more unusual varieties increasing, McLaren’s Nurseries carry as broad a range of plants and trees as possible. We also stock a great number of larger specimen shrubs.
